The Point Pleasant Pirates Youth Cheerleading program has been designed to teach girls the basics of cheerleading which includes, cheerleading chants, proper arm and body placement, jumps, tumbling and dance, with a focus on a safe progression of skills. Because the Pirates field football teams at almost every age group, the cheerleaders will gain a high-level understanding of the game of football to insure they have knowledge of the game they are cheering for. All girls 5-18 years old are welcome to join our squads.
Aside from teaching our cheerleaders cheers, chants, and a halftime routine performed during the games, our secondary objective will be to prepare our girls for competitive cheer within the AYC (American Youth Cheer) league of which PPYFC is a part of. Competitive cheer routines will include a combination of stunting, pyramids, tumbling, dance, jumps and more.
The goal of Point Pleasant Pirates Youth Cheer is to provide a quality program in a safe, nurturing, family friendly atmosphere, with an emphasis on developing positive relationships with coaches and teammates, developing self esteem, self respect, and self worth. All head coaches and volunteers will be certified in accordance with the AYC league rules and will be working closely with Director Luann Candelmo to provide your children with the best cheer experience offered by any youth league around.
